Boechout.-Starting on Friday 29 to 31 July 2011, Youth for Human Rights Belgium (Jongeren voor Mensenrechten-België – YHR.Be) was holding an informative stand at the famous Sfinks Festival Market of Boechout. The team was distributing their educative booklets, informing the youth and parents on the importance and the need of educating people on the 30 articles of the universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations on 10 December 1948. These articles form the basis for any democratic society.
This is in an atmosphere of an international friendship and multiethnicity that , during these three days, the team YHR.Be team was providing information on human rights, getting signatures for the petition to get the human rights taught in the schools of the world.
In the today world, many people have their rights violated, giving them a strong sense of resentment. This often break out in civil disorder, ethnic conflicts and other disturbances and suffering. In the wake, the governments are becoming more repressive to hold down the potential violence in the society.
For these reasons, adults, parents and youth showed a real interest for the educative materials : DVDs, booklets and the Guide, proposed by the association.
More than ever, the application of human rights, ending the intolerance and discrimination, are the road to a peaceful and stable society.
YHR.Be is a branch of Youth for Human Rights International which is holding its 8th Annual Human Rights Summit in Geneva at the end of August 2011.
